Learn from musicians who live the music

Our instructors are working performers and dedicated teachers who help students build confidence, musicianship, and a lasting connection to their craft.

A shared language for every musician

At Unity School of Music, every lesson begins with listening. Our instructors meet students where they are, then guide them through rhythm, melody, harmony, technique, and the joy of playing with others.

Neal Wauchope

Neal Wauchope Founder Keyboards Instructor & Group Mentor

Rhythm, ensemble playing, and real-world musicianship

Neal Wauchope is a professional pianist and keyboardist whose musical roots run through the American traditions of jazz, blues, rock, and soul. He earned a Bachelor of Music in Classical Piano Performance from Valdosta State University and was initially on track to pursue a career as a college professor before choosing instead to build a career as a freelance musician. That decision led him into decades of work alongside notable artists including Tinsley Ellis, Sandra Hall, Sean Costello, Roy Gaines, Big Bill Morganfield (son of Muddy Waters), Michelle Malone, and Maria Muldaur. He is currently a founding member of the blues, soul, and funk band the Venus Kings. Over the course of his career, Neal has performed in 49 of the 50 United States, Europe, Mexico, and Canada, with numerous recording credits to his name. Beyond performing, Neal believes in the power of music to bring people together for the common good. In 2024, he created Unity Fest, an all-day event celebrating the diversity of the Atlanta music scene, and in 2026 opened the Unity School of Music specializing in American music education and emphasizing small group coaching.
